The mother of Tom Marvolo Riddle, the future Lord Voldemort, was an abused and unloved daughter from a dysfunctional family. Although she was obviously devastated to lose the husband she had gained, you do wonder what Voldemort's life would have been like with his mother alive, always supposing that she could have learned to love and care for her baby. Therefore, it must be 7 September, though of course the memory Harry and Dumbledore visit in the Pensieve takes place many decades earlier.

Tom Marvolo Riddle, in his later guise as Lord Voldemort, does revisit the shack to hide a Horcrux there. Albus Dumbledore visits to retrieve the Horcrux, and Voldemort returns to check on the Horcrux and is enraged to find it gone. As linked to Fortuna, the Roman goddess of fate and luck, she was also reputed to be "fickle", "two-faced", and linked to chaos and instability, as well as good fortune for those she favoured.

What makes this house exceptional is the overweening pride of the occupants, a pride in their ancestry that allows them, apparently, to deny the baseness of their domicile.
