Adults & Veterans/First Responders
HopeWay is a physician-led program and has a robust team of medical and clinical professionals, which allows for small caseloads and small group sizes. Our psychiatrists have a spectrum of specialties and interests to accommodate the various needs and goals of our clients. Beyond the staff’s training and expertise, HopeWay’s team is passionate about the work they do and believe in each client’s ability to get better.

They can also enjoy the community atmosphere, utilizing the walking trails, gym, and library as they focus on healing and recovery. Our residential treatment facility offers 24/7 care and support for those struggling with mental health issues through evidence-based, holistic treatment. HopeWay's residential program helps adults, 18 years and older, struggling with mental health conditions that have affected their ability to be successful in school, work, and life. Our Intensive Outpatient Programs (IOP) include three half days of group therapy each week. These programs are designed to support adults and Veterans & First Responders with a primary mental health diagnosis. There will be programs dedicated to mental health disorders and eating disorders.
Evidence-Based, Comprehensive Psychiatric Treatment
HopeWay’s beautiful and calming campus sits on 20 acres and includes walking trails, gardens, outside patios, and an on-site gym. Our main building has 36 private bedrooms with en suite bathrooms on the residential hall. The colors and artwork support the healing process and help make clients feel safe and welcomed during their time in treatment.
We provide specialized treatment for Veterans & First Responders living with PTSD and related mental health conditions through our residential, partial hospitalization and intensive outpatient programs. HopeWay now offers mental health treatment for teens and eating disorder treatment for teens and young adults built on our proven model of care. HopeWay’s main campus is located at 1717 Sharon Road W. The Charlotte-based, Joint Commission-accredited mental health treatment center for adults serves clients in North Carolina and nationwide.

Evening hours and weekends allow time to rest, process and practice what is learned during the day. Spring Brings New Blooms, Exhibitions to Biltmore—Plus, a Major Offer
HopeWay will open a new location in east Charlotte to better serve teens and young adults for mental health and eating disorder treatment. The organization has started construction on a 18,716 square-foot space located on Monroe Road. HopeWay offers half day programs that meet three days per week and focus on adult mental health and Veteran & First Responders mental health. Construction and renovations are underway on an 18,716-square-foot building at Oakhurst Commons, at 4000 Monroe Road, where HopeWay will extend its mental health and eating disorder treatments for adolescents and young adults.

The length of time in treatment varies based on the individual's clinical needs to ensure success as they gradually return to independent living. The Residential Program at HopeWay helps adults, 18 years and older, struggling with mental health issues that have affected their ability to be successful in school, work and life. All clients are paired with a licensed clinical therapist and board-certified psychiatrist. The schedule includes weekly individual therapy with their primary therapist and weekly psychiatric follow up appointments with their attending psychiatrist. HopeWay incorporates evidence-based therapies, including traditional talk and integrative therapies to build a robust and diverse overall therapeutic program.
Sunlight falls on the work tables, sketchbooks, and pens in baskets. Our wooded campus is located in South Charlotte and offers residents state-of-the-art facilities to utilize during their stay. On the unit, individuals have access to relaxation areas, a game room, fire pit, and group spaces.
Through the various treatment modalities offered at HopeWay, clients learn the skills and tools they need to appropriately manage their mental health after discharge. We often hear from previous clients that their “HopeWay tool box” is a central part of their continued recovery and healing. HopeWay is committed to excellence, and through our relationship with UNC Chapel Hill’s School of Medicine, we have seen that our model of care works. Our outcome data shows clinically significant reductions in anxiety and depressive symptoms and clinically significant improvement in overall functioning. HopeWay maintains The Joint Commission’s National Gold Seal of Approval and is also certified as a Behavioral Health Home because of the integrated care model.

The new Veterans' Home has room to serve 12 veterans at a time and will attract clients from across Charlotte, the Southeast and the country. Clients have the opportunity to participate in horticultural therapy by working in the gardens and greenhouse located on the HopeWay campus. The Covington Library is another space at HopeWay that creates opportunities for activity and self-expression, as it is a place of reflection, creativity, learning and exploration for clients and families. The centerpiece is a 52,000 square foot building that was renovated and designed by Perkins + Will, an architecture firm specializing in design for behavioral health and therapeutic environments. It’s a bright Thursday morning in early November, a few weeks before the south Charlotte facility is scheduled to open.
